Anorexic who became weight trainer shares incredible ‘before and after’ photographs

Athina Crilley, a 22-year-old student from Blackpool, Lancashire, has triumphed over a harrowing seven-year battle with anorexia, emerging as a passionate weight trainer. Her journey is a powerful story of resilience, self-discovery, and determination.

Athina’s struggle began at just 13 years old when a desire to lose weight spiraled into a life-threatening eating disorder. Weighing only 5st 7lbs at her lowest point, she survived on a mere 400 calories a day, often waiting until 7 p.m. to eat her first meal. Her days were consumed by intense exercise routines and a growing sense of isolation from the world around her.

Despite multiple hospital admissions and forced recovery attempts, Athina repeatedly found herself falling back into old habits. However, two years ago, inspired by her positive experiences at university, she devised her own method of recovery. Instead of abruptly increasing her calorie intake, she gradually allowed herself to eat more as her body signaled its needs.
